The Yanks have won all but 1 meeting between these two teams this year and 9 of their past 10 games against the A's. In the past 2 weeks the Yankees have hit .310 against left handed pitching. Pitching for the Yankees tonight is AJ Burnett. AJ isn't have a good season however when he did play the A's this season he went a strong 7 innings giving up only 2 runs on 5 hits. The Yankees are playing this game at home where they are 44-22.
The A's are at the end of a 10 game road trip that has had it's ups and downs. Tonight will be one of those downs. On the mound tonight is Brett Anderson who has a 5.68 era against the Yankees in 3 starts. In his last start he left after the 2nd inning due to a hyper-extended knee, so the question will remain if he is actually 100%. Even if he is, he will not be able to handle a Yankees lineup that loves left handed pitchers as much as Manny Ramirez likes attention. Oakland is 27-39 on the road this season; expect it to be 27-40 after tonight.
